Importance of Philanthropy

Now more than ever, St. Joseph Health System, like thousands of other hospitals and health systems across the country, must rely on philanthropy in order to continue our mission and remain a vital presence in our community.

This increased reliance is driven by the economic challenges of declining reimbursement for health care services, the rise in technology costs and St. Joseph’s promise to care for all who seek treatment regardless of their ability to pay.

The role of philanthropy is equally important in our ability to renovate facilities, offer new patient care services, add the latest in diagnostic technology and attract new physicians and other medical professionals to the community.

As our community grows, excellent health care close to home remains imperative.  Your gift to the Foundation makes it possible to continue our founders’ vision of enriching life with local giving. Over the next several years philanthropy will play a major role in the health system’s strategic direction of:

  • Renovating the Emergency Department
  • Expanding Women’s Health Services
  • Initiating Cardiology and Peripheral Vascular Services
  • Continuing support to the Uninsured and Underinsured
